Integrating Canto

DataGrail’s Canto Integration provides data mapping and privacy request functionality allowing your business to do the following:

  • Identify Data Subject PII stored in Canto for automatic fulfillment of privacy requests.
  • Delete Data Subject PII stored in Canto for automatic fulfillment of privacy requests.

**Note: if you do not have admin rights in Canto you will not be able to complete this integration. Please contact your Canto Admin for assistance.

Step 1: Create a Canto Client ID and Client Secret

  1. Log in to your Canto account.

  2. Click on icon in upper right corner and select Settings.

  3. Select Configuration Options tab, click API in left menu, select API Keys tab and click Create API Key button.

  4. Fill the form as follow:

    1. Name: DataGrail
    2. Wesbite: Please note that in the Website field you will see as your_subdomain the name of your subdomain (account name) provided at registration of your account. You don’t need to modify it.
    3. Logo URL: You don’t need to modify it, but you can use any DataGrail logo.
    4. Redirect URL: https://datagrail.io/oauth/canto
  5. Click the Finish button in the top right corner. You’ll see the table with new generated keys. Click on the pencil icon.

  6. Verify your settings in the form. Copy App ID and App Secret and store them in a safe place.

Step 2: Connect Canto

  1. Return to DataGrail (window should be open in a separate tab).

  2. Click Connect within the Integration page for Canto.

  3. Enter the App ID and App Secret obtained from Step 1 along with your Subdomain.

  4. Click Connect Canto, then fill the form with your Email/User ID, Password, and enter your Subdomain as the Account Name.

  5. Click Sign In and then in the next opened window click the Allow button to grant access to the application.

  6. If there are additional Canto accounts to integrate follow these instructions:

    1. Click Edit Connection within the Integration page for Canto.
    2. From the drop-down, select +Add New Connection.
    3. Under Connection Name, enter a new name to identify this separate account [ex: Canto Training Account].
    4. Repeat Step 1 to add App ID, App Secret and Subdomain for this new account.
    5. Click Connect.
  7. In DataGrail, if you have any other integrations not connected (no green check mark) please click Connect to complete the configuration and reference the Help Docs link for instructions
