Integrating Looker
Capabilities
DataGrail's Looker integration provides the following capabilities:

Before You Start
To successfully configure this integration, please ensure you have sufficient privileges:
- DataGrail User Role: Super Admin, Connections Manager
- Looker User Role: Admin
Create an API Key
- Log in to Looker.
- Select the Admin menu and navigate to the Users page.
- Create API Credentials and copy the Client ID and Client Secret and store them in a secure, temporary location.
Authentication Without an SDK
While authentication with an SDK is recommended, it is possible to authentication without an SDK, by following these instructions.
Locate The API URL
- Log in to Looker.
- Select the Admin menu and then API.
- Find the API Host URL.
- The API URL can be entered in DataGrail in one of the following formats:
https://<instance_name>.api.looker.comhttps://<instance_name>.api.<my_region>.looker.comhttps://<instance_name>.looker.com

Connect to DataGrail
- In DataGrail, navigate to Integrations and select Configure New Integration to search for Looker.
- Enter the Client ID, Client Secret, and API URL.
- Select Configure Integration.

Troubleshooting
If you are unable to successfully connect the integration, review these common troubleshooting steps:
Ensure Required Permissions Are Granted on API Keys/Resources
DataGrail checks required permissions and scopes on API keys/resources used by each integration. If all necessary permissions are not granted, new connections will fail.
Review Required Account Types and User Roles
If users do not have the necessary permissions or the minimum required user role in the connecting system, the connection to DataGrail will fail. Additionally, connections will fail if your account type does not match the one required by the integration.
