Integrating Notion

Capabilities

DataGrail's Notion integration provides the following capabilities:

Before You Start

To successfully configure this integration, please ensure you have sufficient privileges:

  • DataGrail User Role: Super Admin, Connections Manager
  • Notion User Role: Admin

Get Notion Client ID and Client Secret

  1. Log in to Notion and navigate to Profile.
  2. In the left menu, select Integrations.
  3. Select New Integration.
  4. Select Associated workspace.
  5. In the Type drop-down, select Public.
  6. Populate the required fields:

Redirect URIs: https://datagrail.io/oauth/notion

  1. Select Save.
  2. In the Integration successfully created modal, select Configure integration settings:

  1. Copy OAuth Client ID and OAuth Client Secret and store them in a safe, temporary location.
  2. Under Content Capabilities, select Read Content only.
  3. Under User Capabilities, select Read user information including email addresses.
  4. Select Save.
  1. In the left menu, select Integrations again. Your new integration should appear in the list.

Connect to DataGrail

  1. In DataGrail, navigate to Integrations and select Configure New Integration to search for Notion.
  2. Enter the Client ID and Client Secret.
  3. Select Login to Configure.
  4. When the User Consent window appears, select the pages you would like to provide access to and select Allow access.

Troubleshooting

If you are unable to successfully connect the integration, review these common troubleshooting steps:

Ensure Required Permissions Are Granted on API Keys/Resources

DataGrail checks required permissions and scopes on API keys/resources used by each integration. If all necessary permissions are not granted, new connections will fail.

Review Required Account Types and User Roles

If users do not have the necessary permissions or the minimum required user role in the connecting system, the connection to DataGrail will fail. Additionally, connections will fail if your account type does not match the one required by the integration.
