Integrating QuickBooks

Capabilities

DataGrail's QuickBooks integration provides the following capabilities:

Before You Start

To successfully configure this integration, please ensure you have sufficient privileges:

  • DataGrail User Role: Super Admin, Connections Manager
  • QuickBooks User Role: Admin

Create a QuickBooks App

  1. Sign into your Intuit Developer account.
  2. Select Dashboard from the top-right menu.
  3. In the My Apps Dashboard, create a new app by selecting Create an app.
  4. Select QuickBooks Online and Payments.
App Configuration

App Name: DataGrail.

Scope: Accounting.

  1. In the left side menu, select Production, then Keys & OAuth to see Production Keys Requirements.
  2. Select the Provide EULA & privacy policy URLs in Production settings to see your App details:
  3. Add the following fields:
Required Fields
  • Terms of Service Links:
    • Add your End User License Agreement URL.
    • Add your Privacy Policy URL.
  • Target industries for this app:
    • Select None of the above.
  • Countries you accept connections from:
    • Select the countries you want to accept connections.
  • Scope for the API
    • Select Accounting.
  1. Open your new application from the Dashboard.
  2. On the left side menu, select Production then Keys & OAuth to see Production Keys Requirements.
  3. Add https://datagrail.io/oauth/quickbooks to the Redirect URIs.
  4. Copy your Production Client ID and Client Secret and store them in a temporary, secure location.

Get your QuickBooks Company ID

  1. Navigate to Production then Keys & OAuth.
  2. Select View Production Companies, and log in to your QuickBooks account if necessary.
  3. Go to Settings and select Account and Settings.
  4. Navigate to the Billing & Subscription tab.
  5. Copy your Company ID

Connect to DataGrail

  1. In DataGrail, navigate to Integrations and select Configure New Integration to search for QuickBooks.
  2. Enter the Client ID, Client Secret and the Company ID.
  3. Select Login to Configure.

Troubleshooting

If you are unable to successfully connect the integration, review these common troubleshooting steps:

Ensure Required Permissions Are Granted on API Keys/Resources

DataGrail checks required permissions and scopes on API keys/resources used by each integration. If all necessary permissions are not granted, new connections will fail.

Review Required Account Types and User Roles

If users do not have the necessary permissions or the minimum required user role in the connecting system, the connection to DataGrail will fail. Additionally, connections will fail if your account type does not match the one required by the integration.
