ProductCapability

Request TypesAccess, Deletion

Live Data MapData Discovery

Before You Start

To successfully configure this integration, please ensure you have sufficient privileges:

  • DataGrail User Role: Super Admin, Connections Manager
  • Shopify User Role: Shopify Store Owner

Get Shopify Shop Name

  1. Log in to your Shopify Store's Dashboard.
  2. Locate your Shop Name, which can be found in your Shopify URL, formatted shopname.myshopify.com
    • If your Shopify URL is datagrail.shopify.com, your shop name will be datagrail

Connect to DataGrail

  1. Navigate back to DataGrail.
  2. Enter your Shop Name.
  3. Select your desired Deletion Behavior.
Shopify Deletion Behavior Configuration

By default, Shopify won't erase personal data if the customer has made an order in the last six months (180 days) in case a chargeback occurs. If a request for erasure is submitted during that time, the request in DataGrail will remain in a pending state until the required time has passed and data can be deleted.

If you select, "Mark integration as complete when a deletion request is successfully submitted":

  • The Shopify Integration will be marked as "complete" as soon as the deletion request is submitted to Shopify.

If you select, "Continue processing until the deletion request is completed (default behavior)":

  • The Shopify Integration will show a "processing" status until the Shopify deletion is complete.
  1. Select Configure Integration.
  2. Select Install App when redirected to Shopify, and authorize the necessary permissions to DataGrail:
Required Scopes
  • read_customers
  • write_customers
  • write_orders
  • write_customer_data_erasure
  • read_orders
  • read_all_orders
  • read_checkouts

Next Steps

Now that you've successfully connected the integration, check out the following resources:

Troubleshooting

If you are unable to successfully connect the integration, review these common troubleshooting steps:

Ensure Required Permissions Are Granted on API Keys/Resources

DataGrail checks required permissions and scopes on API keys/resources used by each integration. If all necessary permissions are not granted, new connections will fail.

Review Required Account Types and User Roles

If users do not have the necessary permissions or the minimum required user role in the connecting system, the connection to DataGrail will fail. Additionally, connections will fail if your account type does not match the one required by the integration.

See Before You Start to review these requirements.
