Integrating Square

Capabilities

DataGrail's Square integration provides the following capabilities:

Before You Start

To successfully configure this integration, please ensure you have sufficient privileges:

• DataGrail User Role: Super Admin, Connections Manager
• Square User Role: Admin

Get Square API Credentials

1. Log in to Square.
2. Select Applications, then select the "Add" icon.
3. Enter the Application Name (we recommend DataGrail) and select Next.
4. For the prompts "What will you build first?" and "Find your audience", select Skip.
5. Select either Sandbox or Production.
6. In menu on the left, select OAuth.
7. Next to Production Redirect URL, select Update.
8. Set Redirect URL to https://datagrail.io/oauth/square and then select Confirm.
9. Copy the Application ID and Application Secret and store them in a secure, temporary location.

Connect to DataGrail

1. In DataGrail, navigate to Integrations and select Configure New Integration to search for Square.
2. Enter the Application ID and Application Secret.
3. Select Login to Configure.
4. Log in to Square if prompted and authorize the necessary permissions to DataGrail:

• Read my customer contact information
• Modify my customer contact information
• Read my Square orders
• Read my subscription related data
• Read my invoice information
• Read my loyalty information
• Read my employee information

Troubleshooting

If you are unable to successfully connect the integration, review these common troubleshooting steps:

Ensure Required Permissions Are Granted on API Keys/Resources

DataGrail checks required permissions and scopes on API keys/resources used by each integration. If all necessary permissions are not granted, new connections will fail.

Review Required Account Types and User Roles

If users do not have the necessary permissions or the minimum required user role in the connecting system, the connection to DataGrail will fail. Additionally, connections will fail if your account type does not match the one required by the integration.
