Cloud Storage Setup

The use of a storage solution allows DataGrail to send the data collected for a Privacy Request to a designated location on our customer's instance.

When retrieving the requester's data for access and deletion requests, DataGrail encrypts data at rest and in transit when sending to your storage solution. Customers can then encrypt the storage instance per your security posture and purge the data as needed.

Supported Storage Solutions

  • Amazon S3
  • Google Cloud Storage (GCS)
  • Microsoft Azure Blob

Should you require another solution, please contact support@datagrail.io for assistance.

User Capabilities

Only the following users will have access to the Integrations tab to connect your Cloud Storage Solution:

  • Connections Manager
  • Super Admin

Connection Instructions

To connect your Cloud Storage Solution:

  1. Navigate to the Integrations page.
  2. Select Configure New Integration and search for your desired solution.
  3. Select View Connection Instructions for specific connection for your solution.
  4. After inputting the required credentials, ensure the Cloud Storage capability is selected in the left-hand menu.
  5. Select Configure Integration.

Data Volume

The volume of data stored in your connected bucket is dependent on the number of records obtained for a Data Subject on a Privacy Request. Each Privacy Request will query your connected integrations for PII and return a set of .tsv files, which are generally quite small.

To estimate the volume of data stored, it is helpful to consider the average amount of data returned for a Privacy Request as well as your monthly request volume.

Purging Data

To purge Data Subject PII from your Cloud Storage Solution, we recommend you configure your storage bucket with a retention policy. This policy will allow your bucket to automatically purge data, after a specified period of time.

Retention Period

Retrieved data must remain present in your storage solution for the lifetime of Privacy Request (creation to close). If your retention period is too short and purges data before a Privacy Request is complete, it will encounter an error in DataGrail. We recommend configuring a retention period of at least 60 days.
